Motorola Droid Razr M Review

The Motorola Droid RAZR M is everything that the Motorola Droid RAZR was, but less. It's smaller and much less expensive than the RAZR was at launch. Despite the price, you get most everything that was captivating about the Droid RAZR: a slim design with a Kevlar back, Gorilla Glass and a water resistant nano-coating. It is as daring and sexy looking as the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX? Not to our eyes. The rounded plastic corners remind us of the Motorola Atrix HD, and the design is less daring. It's still a nice enough looking phone though.

Though significantly smaller (the Droid RAZR M is just a little bit taller than the iPhone 4S and similar in size to the iPhone 5), it still packs a 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD 540 x 960 display. The CPU has been updated, so the RAZR M is considerably faster thanks to a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU (the same CPU in the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III).

That's a lot of phone for $99. It runs Android OS 4.0.4 with minor UI customizations and will get Jelly Bean by the end of the year. It has dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, a GPS and NFC. Though the front camera is only VGA resolution, the rear 8MP camera is one of Moto's best efforts yet. It does a great job with outdoor shots, though indoor shot quality and video recording quality fall behind Samsung and HTC's top offerings.

The Droid RAZR M is available now for $99 with 2 year contract on Verizon Wireless. It has a gig of RAM, 8 gigs of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The 2,000 mAh Lithium Ion battery is sealed inside, and in our tests it made it through a moderate day of use.
